Casting Call

originally posted October 29, 2006

After two calls for audition, I've managed to cast the part of Julian the Assassin. Phineahas of Brundisium, the Story Teller with a preference for Portia arrived at the Great Theater and read well. The part of Julian requires something of a sense of humor, a sardonic wit - along with the ability to deliver his lines lyrically. Although Julian is the antagonist of the play, he must be likeable, the audience should be invested in him despite his dark task. I think that Phineahas will assume the role admirably. He is no Locutius of Gor, of course, but then no one is. He is illiterate, but I do not think that will be too difficult a hurdle to overcome. His chosen vocation, earning money by entertaining people with tales from his travels, is not unlike my own. And if he can recall the particulars of the dozens of stories in his repetoire, he should have little trouble recalling the lines from a one act play. I have offered him the use of Portia, the whore he prefers, the whore made literate at my bidding, to memorize his part. The call for auditions has been adjusted on the public boards as of this morning. Only the part of Agamedes is available.
