The Road Not Taken

originally posted April 2, 2006

We have been on the road for several days following the end of the En'Kara Fair; headed south and east. While most have continued on the path of the Pilgrim's Road, we've struck out onto the Fields of Saleria. The last time I was at Fair, a few years ago during Se'Kara, I traveled this route. Near as I can tell, we are a few hundred pasangs north of Ti. I am familiar with Ti. I once knew the Ubar of that Salerian city. He was a fellow called Valmir. Once, before he became Ubar of Ti, we had a disagreement. It was the sort of disagreement where one fellow loses blood, acquires scars, lays in the dirt trying to hold together his midsection to prevent the spilling of internal organs; that sort of thing. I was that fellow. I am pleased to report that I survived. I choose the fellows I argue with a little more carefully these days. It seems prudent. Also, being nearly disemboweled hurts more than you might think. Spots. I remember seeing spots. We are not bound for Ti, however. My reunion with Valmir will have to wait.
