Letter to Vesutto

Eleventh Month, Ninth Day
Vesutto,
I hope this finds you well. The Sardar caravan delivered us without issue back to Ar a few days ago. My business interests seem largely unaffected by my absence which is, in itself, reassuring. I'd rather not beat the Lady Jenny if it can be avoided. Still, like any woman, she responds excellently to the occasional correction.
Though the once-high girl in the kitchen of my brothel intrigued you, I hope you will take the time to visit the Whip the next time your sandals light the streets of Ar. My stake is minor there, but it is a sound venture afforded by the exploitation of eager females. From time to time, Emily is permitted to dance the sands. You know her as Vulo. I would wager her skill against your Teela's any time. The replenishment of my fortunes would happen much sooner than planned, I assure you.
It is as I suspected with respect to 'Agamedes'. I cannot secure a venue to stage a performance in Ar at the moment. Apparently, the daughter of a wealthy Scribe was carried off during the confusion at the close of 'Merchant of Ko-ro-ba' and his influence is continuing to block my efforts. If I but knew the girl's name, I would purchase her myself- assuming the fellow would sell her. Bold move to take a daughter of Ar within the very walls of her own city. Still, she is doubtless a slave by now and probably thrilled to be owned by such a brash fellow. Good for her. It seems petty of me, but I wish the fellow well.
Let us pursue a third run, then, as discussed at the Fair of En'Kara. The Waiting Hand approaches. I will have the revisions to the seventh act to you before then.
Regards,
Szol, Poet of Ar.
